...on 2010 – we stand in absolute amazement. God is great. Starting in faith with 1300 children from five different schools without any sponsors is what some people would call “just plain stupid.”
We call it SPECIAL. One by one people started taking hands with us. Helping us to put a smile on a little child’s face, as they came to realise they are worthy and special.
With help and by grace we gave every child a workbook and something to look forward to each week. We gave the volunteers all the equipment they need to present the classes with excellence.
We hosted our first Annual High Tea & Celeb Function.
We had a phenomenal Christmas Celebration and together we grew in faith
getting to know our God.
God gave us favour with the WCDE and they gave us permission to present the I am Special Programme (proclaiming the Gospel) in certain schools. And we received our NPO status.
We want to thank every one who helped us by different means during 2010 to make a difference in the lives of others. But most of all we want to give God the glory.
And 2011? With more children and more schools... For sure we will keep you posted!
I Am Special Staff 2010
Mariette Theart, Helene Vermaak, Pam Badenhorst, Nuncia September,
Anel Conradie, Luani Oosthuizen, Rina Voster
During the year we shared love, grace and joy on a weekly basis to ± 1300 learners.
We told them they are special despite where they come from or who they are.
They are special because God made them and HE does not make mistakes.
Maybe we did not change their circumstances but we gave them hope and guidance
and told them how powerful the Word of God can be.

New Volunteer / Area Manager
A warm welcome to our new Volunteer, PAM BADENHORST, who has also been appointed Area Manager for the Northern Suburbs in Cape Town. Pam humbly testifies: “I received a vision of me shepherding children and I sense that Volunteering with I am Special is my opportunity to step into this vision.” We extend our appreciation to Pam and her family. May God richly bless you!

I am Special Ministries started in September 2009 with 30 children and has increased to nearly
2000 children to attend the programme in 2010!
A Teacher’s conference was held at the end of September in Bloemfontein. I am Special was represented by 2 of our members and by means of an exhibition as well as a workshop, the I am Special ministries was introduced and made available to teachers throughout South Africa.
God increased I am Special with at least 30 members during this time. In His faithfulness, He called intercessors, sponsors and volunteer workers to be part of His vision. Many also showed interest and requested ongoing update of the ministry.
A sincere thank you to the organisers, Foundation for Cross-Cultural Education, all people responsible for the illuminating workshops, and to the great chefs.
A warm welcome to our new prayer partners: Sumarie de Villiers, Elma Theunissen, Daléne du Plessis, Ronelle van der Merwe, Marizahn Landman and Cathleen van Vuuren.
Something powerful happens when a righteous man or woman prays and stands in the gap for his brothers and sisters in Christ. We already experience answered prayers and thank all our intercessors for their commitment and prayers.
A Christmas party for all the children attending I am Special was held on 2 December 2009.
What a privilege to experience the appreciation of these little ones! A huge thank you to
Annelise Brits and her helpers that supplied all the “goodie-boxes” as presents for this event,
and to Mr November and Staff for their positive attitude, and their appreciative feedback.
We thank God for financial provision and for people and organisations that are obedient
to His prompt.
